Vienna is a city that captivates with the imperial past, magnificent buildings, great art collections and music, traditional coffee houses, and sweet goodies. With its Austrian and Habsburg Empire history, Vienna boasts of hidden gems waiting to be discovered at every turn.

1. Schönbrunn Palace

It is impossible to imagine Vienna without the stunning baroque Schönbrunn Palace which has several attractions for tourists. This expansive castle was built in the early 16th century and has over 1,400 rooms; it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it was the summer palace for the Habsburgs. Stroll through the halls of the palace with its rich decorations and then continue to the residence territory and gardens. Do not leave without visiting the gardens with a path up a hill to Gloriette; the terrace offers stunning outlooks of Vienna.

2. St. Stephen's Cathedral

The most known building in Vienna is devoted to St. Stephen – Stephansdom, which is in Gothic style and has a colorful roofing tile. To get a stunning view of the city then one has to go to the top of the cathedral’s southern tower, which has a total of 343 steps. The cathedral also contains an interesting catacombs museum there also exists a small chapel which is also believed to be a burial site. Listen to the bells ringing in the towers throughout the day since the cathedral is an object of musical art.

3. The Spanish Riding School

See graceful Lipizzaners or archaic horses performing fancy drills and shows at the Spanish Riding School within the monumental Hofburg Palace.
