Muscat is the capital city of Oman, it is one of the most dynamic cities in the region and it is very colorful with culture and history. The modern architectural designs of some of the mosques and museums the vibrant souks and the pristine beaches make Muscat suitable for all travelers. 

1. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

The Sultan Qaboo Grand Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Muscat and deserves a visit for its breathtaking architecture. It was built in 2001 and can accommodate over 20,000 people at any given time. The rules and regulations do permit non-Muslims provided that they access the prayer hall, beautiful chandeliers, the beautiful designs on the carpets, and the facilities in the mosque. When visiting make sure you dress appropriately in a decent manner, no skimpy dressing.

2. Mutrah Souk

Another attraction is Mutrah Souk – the residential souk built during the early period of the Omani dynasty, full of narrow streets and shops that offer scarves, perfumes, sweets, and antiques. Under the negotiation category, it is expected to haggle at the souk to acquire special gifts. 6. Bimmah Sinkhole

This is a natural pit created by the geological process of a sinkhole in limestone; the water is clear and we can swim in the calm turquoise water. The sinkhole beach is near the resort, and travelers can spend their time observing the locals as they make high cliff dives into the sinkhole.

7. Amouage Perfumery

The is home to Oman’s famous luxury perfumes that are a blend of Arabic and European scents and are available from the Amouage Perfumery. They should pay for a tour to watch the extraction process of the perfume and view the beautiful gardens of the jasmine flowers. As a souvenir, visit their store and buy their perfume bottles with golden tops.

8. Sultan’s Palace – Al Alam Palace

The exterior designs are unmistakable with the palace of the Sultan and the flags of Oman and Oman Royal. It has a modern structure and interior design which is made from stainless steel, marble, and wood that have been combined with the Islamic geometric pattern and the largest circular domed roof. If you cannot enter the palace as a tourist, you might take pictures by the reflecting pool near the entrance, or just walk alongside the palace walls to have a look at its face.

9. Royal Opera House Muscat

Royal Opera House Muscat is the most iconic venue in the city for musical, theatrical, and operatic performances which takes place in an exquisite hall decorated with Italian marble and carved wooden panels. 10. Marah Land

To have fun with your little ones and to get a great view of the skyline, one can spend the afternoon getting lost in the mazes of Marah Land! There are three choices of a maze constructed from palm trees Indigenous to the area; adults and children will be amused tracing through carved walls, photographing trinkets arranged in the walls, and small stony windows until the maze is exited.
