What Is Travel Tuesday?

Published On : 05 Sep 2024

Greetings, and welcome to the very first post of our new series – What Is Travel Tuesday! From now on, every Tuesday, we will be publishing the inspiration and information on various aspects of travel that can help you on your trip.

First, we thought it necessary to reveal what What Is Travel Tuesday is all about. Travel is such an extensive subject but with the weekly themes, the idea is to go as far as one can into each theme. We will cover places to visit, things to pack, how to travel on a shoe-string budget, how to travel alone and much more. As much as the whole wide world is your playground, the opportunities are limitless!

So why Tuesday? There was no special cause to choose a specific day but it was necessary to choose one and Tuesday seemed appropriate. And alliteration is always fun too with the double T’s in Travel Tuesday. It is therefore important to put a reminder for Tuesday from now on. When you scroll through your social media only to be greeted with a new What Is Travel Tuesday post, it’s officially time to grab a cup of coffee and get ready to expand your knowledge about the amazing world of travel and exploration.

Now, it’s time to dive straight into our very first What Is Travel Tuesday post – determining what kind of traveler you are. You will use this a lot when you begin planning a trip and knowing your travel personality can really assist a lot of decisions. Are you an organizing freak, who plans every single hour of a day, or you are a real spontaneous person? It will define even where you need to go and what you will be doing there or what you need to pack.

The Explorer

Travelers seek unique, uncontracted experiences in unfamiliar places. This type of traveler would not hesitate to swap Paris’s iconic landmark for a village in Hungary or beautiful shores for a jungle safari in the Amazon. Explorers desire to interact with the local community and have thrilling tales to tell at home about their adventures.

When it comes to the Explorer personality, choosing places popular among other tourists and non-business travelers likely will not suffice. Explorers seek out their own opportunities by researching into them which makes it unique. These travelers are also likely to be minimalists when it comes to luggage – they want to be as mobile and low-maintenance as possible. Oh no, extra luggage will only hinder them and make things more difficult with their journey.

The Schedule-R

Thus, unlike the Explorer, the Schedule-R only reveals its full potential and functionality when making a trip plan. This type carefully plans each and every single activity throughout the day to ensure they are not wasting any time. Schedule-Rs may even time block hour by hour on a spread sheet. In the Schedule-R, there is usually a feeling of let down and pressure in case of a hitch from the perfect plan in mind.

As far as packing is concerned, Schedule-Rs prepare for each contingency right down to the backup of a backup. Their worst fear is running out of something they require, be it food, clothes, or even fuel. Places that are fine with Schedule-Rs booking in advance experiences such as tours, theater performances, restaurants and so on are well suited for this travel personality. If they are given too much open space and too much freedom in the itinerary, they will be overwhelmed.

The Chill Traveler

Following the Schedule-R, the antithetical product is the Chill Traveler. This type is likely to act on an event once they are at a specific place. They may write down an informal list of things that they wanted to do, but they do not care if they left something out or deviated from a plan.

Chill Travelers prefer to have a free-spirited itinerary and vadareny moments rather than packed schedules. They enjoy exploring and getting just slightly off track down some appealing, narrow alleys and meeting people to discover the best places. It’s also important for these travelers to pack lightly so they may be free to move their feet around and be fancy. The more randomness and random occurrences there are in chosen destinations, the better it will be for the Chill Travelers. They will be completely smothered by an overly rigid schedule!

The Indulger

Last, but not the least, is the Indulger travel personality. They would love to indulge themselves in luxury experiences and other facilities associated to luxury. They wish to be treated with the best wines and exquisite food throughout the trip. If it is relaxing in a lush spa, hiring a yacht or taking a helicopter tour, or staying in an overwater villa in a stylish island hotel, the Indulger usually spends without much of a care.

Comfort and ease are also critical to this kind of consumer. They are willing to dig deeper into their pockets to get the VIP service that can enable them avoid long queues. Oh, you can be sure Indulgers travel with some fancy bags packed with multiple wardrobe pieces for emergencies. Indulgers who opt for glamour spots, which include the French Riviera, Dubai and the Maldives enjoy the best of luxury.

Which Travel Personality Do You Possess?

So, which of the main traveler types suits you the best now that you’ve read about it? Are you an organisational, efficient Schedule-R or a laid-back, relaxed Chill Traveler? It might be that you have aspects of different personalities within you. Though most of us are a mix, it is useful to determine at least the general trend when choosing a travel destination.

The topics of What Is Travel Tuesday over the following weeks will directly reflect each of those personalities. Schedule-Rs can look out for itinerary planning guides, budget breakdowns and packing list. Explorers will get suggestions of less-known places and culture/adventure narratives. Chill Travelers will need suggestions on ad hoc planning and, possibly, brief descriptions of offbeat places. Indulgers can also indulge in reviews of beautiful hotels, elegant cars and fine tours/activities.

Here’s to What Is Travel Tuesday becoming your favorite day of the week and our posts helping you plan your next big adventure according to your travel type! Just tell us what kind of topics you would like to be written about in the future. But for now, do leave us a comment and let us know if you can relate to any of the four travel types discussed today! Bon voyage!
