Sidemen
Sidemen is a valley in east Bali known for its rich cottage industries and lush rice fields. Pronounced ‘see-da-men’, it is a fairly traditional village in the Karangasem region. It isn’t known for its wild parties or thrilling activities, instead, it boasts of an insight into local Balinese life like producing traditional books, manufacturing the local palm drink called ‘arak’, clothes weaving, and exploring agricultural life.
Sidemen is home to a predominantly Hindu population with a small Muslim population that descended from the Karangasam kingdom in modern-day Amlapura. Site of Sari Club
Kuta's Sari Club was a world-renowned open-air bar that drew tourists from around the world to enjoy its ambience and its laid-back vibes. It became the site for one of Bali's most horrific tragedies during the 2002 Bali bombings that claimed the lives of over 200 victims. The bombings destroyed the are where the Sari Club was and is situated across from the Bali Memorial Wall. It is a sombre reminder of the tragic events that happened that day.

Stone Pillar (Sanur)
The oldest artefact in the island, the Stone Pillar or Belanjong pillar close to Pura Belanjong is a 10th-century inscription pillar belonging to the Warmadewa dynasty. It recounts the military victories of the king Sri Kesari Warmadeva and is written in a mix of Old Balinese and Sanskrit, suggesting an ancient cultural exchange.
Although the Stone Pillar was created in the 10th-century, it was only discovered in the early 20th-century. The inscriptions on the stone pillar were written on either sides of the pillar depict the military expeditions of the various kingdoms.
