Set between steep cliffs, the white sand beach was inaccessible until recently and has now become a surfer‰Ûªs paradise. The waves are ideal for advanced surfers who want a thrilling beach holiday.

Arising from two adjoining water streams, Juwuk Manis Waterfall in Pekutatan is a lovely attraction. A scenic 875-step trek through coffee, clove and Duran plantations leads you to the falls, which cascades from a height of five metres. Upon reaching, you can take a dip into the reservoir below or layout a picnic among the tropical bushes.

Kedonganan Fish Market is a traditional wet market where fresh catches are sourced from southern Bali. Open daily from 8 AM to 9 PM, this fish market is the go-to destination for locals and tourists in Kabupaten Badung for seafood, from the common saltwater catch and red snappers to rare mahi-mahis. You can ask "warungs" around to grill your fish and prawn.

A stone’s throw away from its touristy neighbour at Sekumpul, Lemukih Waterfall is a trekkers’ abode where three 30-metre-tall voluptuous streams cascade down a steep slate rock. Best visited in monsoon, this waterfall has a deep, turquoise basin beneath where you can take a rejuvenating dip. Lemukih Waterfall is also the starting point for the trek to Fiji Waterfall.

Forming Bali’s famous landmark of the twin Munduk and Melanting Waterfalls, Melanting is the more-visited, 20-metre-tall counterpart tumbling down steep rocks into a pool with a viewing deck. Amidst rolling rice plantations, Melanting Waterfall is best visited between June and August for hiking the forested trails and swimming. There is also a paved path with souvenirs and food warung stalls.

Located on the sun-soaked eastern corner of its namesake beach in Tanah Lot, Melasti is a unique beach waterfall in Bali tumbling down a limestone cliff. Steeped in the tropics, Melasti waterfall is best visited during sunset and low tide when tiny dipping pools form among the moss-laden rocky crags. Visitors often swim on this side of the beach and fall.

Puncak Penulisan or Mount Penulisan stands 1,745 metres tall, overlooking spectacular views of the crystalline crater lake, Lake Batur and Mount Batur in the distance. A 300-step-climb to the top takes you to a megalithic Hindu temple, Bali’s oldest and highest temple. Set in a vast volcanic caldera, Mount Penulisan features verdant coffee plantations, rainforests and savannahs for trekking.

The Beachwalk Mall at Kuta Beach houses the beautiful Museum Kain on its top floor, a homage to the Batik fabric culture of Indonesia since the 19th century. Owned by a private Batik collector, the museum offers interactive screens and workshops to deconstruct the designs, and is ideal for tourists interested in the handicraft history of Indonesia.
