The late 19th century saw a theatre and drama group named the Tooneel Braga became a mainstay of the south end of the promenade and gave the street its eponymous name. Music is a part of Jalan Braga's heritage and tourists can expect to see buskers at every street corner, and bar musicians performing classic rock songs. Various street stalls are also tucked into some pockets of Braga Street.
