Mary's Basilica, located in the heart of Bangalore, Karnataka, is a major cornerstone and a significant religious point. A beautiful 6-foot-high altar-statue of the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus in her arms is placed in a seductive basilica directly in front of the church structure.

It's said that during the construction of the new church, an attempt to remove the statue in order to place it on a prominent balcony within the church failed as the statue remained motionless. This strange event is considered a sign of the miraculous power of the Abecedarian. The main jubilee of the church is celebrated with great pomp every year on September 8, the feast day of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. This jubilee is considered one of the most important by the people of the archdiocese and the entire state of Karnataka.
