Mary Arden's Farm

Mary Arden's Farm, also known as Mary Arden's House, is a 16th century home and farmland that had been occupied by Mary Arden, the mother of the noted playwright William Shakespeare. Located at Station Road, Wilmcote, a mere 3 miles away from the ton of Stratford-upon-Avon, the farm and 4 adjoining properties are owned and run by Shakespeare Birthplace Trust at present. The visitors can experience a day in the life of a farmer who lived here during the bygone Tudor era. The tourists are accompanied by guides wearing costumes of the Tudor era who go about their daily tasks in the same way as the old Tudor hands would have done at the close of the 16th century. The building has been acquired and is currently run by the “Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.”  Mary Arden's Farm also keeps a number of rare breeds of animals that are showcased to the visitors who are eager to learn more about the daily life of a family living in the Elizabethan times. The National SEA LIFE Centre is an aquarium with over sixty displays of freshwater and marine life located alongside the Birmingham Canal Navigations Main Line Canal in Brindleyplace, Birmingham. This huge facility is the UK’s only aquarium with a transparent 360-degree underwater ocean tunnel and is home to huge sea turtles, sharks, penguins, and native rays. The Coffin Works Museum is a century-old factory that made coffin furniture and was the last such factory in the city. It was established and listed as the Newman Brothers Coffin Furniture Factory (owned by two brothers, the Newman Brothers). The Coffin Works was operational for a little over a century and was shut down in the late-20th century as the manufacturing industry suffered great losses.
