Inkaya Historical Plane Tree

Inkaya Historical Plane Tree

Inkaya Tarihi Cinar is a memorial plane tree that is almost 800 years old. It is located in Golyazi village and the tree is most famously known for its legendary story- the Weeping Sycamore. It is 37 metres tall and is Turkey’s biggest tree. The story goes on about a Turkish man and a Greek woman who had an unrequited love story and met in front of a tree. When they died, the tree was also a witness which is why it is known as the Weeping Sycamore. The tree is known as Aglayan Cinar due to its capability to pour out sap. Karagoz Museum

Karagoz Museum

The Karagoz Museum intends to showcase Karagoz and Hacivat- a form of Turkish shadow theatre. It is the only Karagoz museum in the entire country. It has two galleries, one of which presents itself with the history of shadow puppetry. The second gallery displays 61 Karagoz puppets that were collected from traditional shadow puppet theatres. There are also newspaper clippings from the Ottoman era of Karagoz-Hacivat cartoons.

Koza Han

Koza Han

Koza Han translates to ‘inn of the silk cocoon' and once was a caravanserai in old Bursa, which was the centre of silk produce and trade. Today, the courtyard is used as a bazaar selling various silk products and other items. There are more than 100 rooms, including some which were former horse stables or storage units. The architecture of the han is marvellous, with a gallery surrounding the courtyard, a small mosque in the centre with a fountain and a washing area below it for ritual purposes. There are also stone and brick portals intricately layered with tiles and clay, adding a beautiful overall effect to the Han. Read More

Kureklidere Falls

Kureklidere waterfalls is located in the Hamamlikızik Village of Yildirim District in Central Bursa. The falls are at an altitude of 2000 m from the city forest, and the water spills from 82m. There are picnic tables, a wooden platform, and camping areas near the falls. The trail to the falls is a popular trekking route. The falls is a 2 km car ride from the Oren Mahallesi road and a 500 m walk to reach the base of the falls. The road to the falls will be muddy during the rainy season, and the falls are not wheelchair accessible. There are no restaurants or cafes near the waterfall. Read More

Muradiye Complex

The Complex of Sultan Murad II, better known as Muradiye Complex, is a UNESCO world heritage site. It contains a mosque, madrasa, soup kitchen, hammam and 12 tombs. It was built by Sultan Murad II— an Ottoman Sultan of Bursa. The mosque was the first building to be constructed in the complex and was restored in the year 2013. Today, the madrasa houses the Muradiye Quran and Calligraphy Museum, which is open on all days except Monday and has free entry. The hammam now serves as a cultural and educational centre and the soup kitchen has an Ottoman cuisine restaurant inside. Read More

Orhan Gazi Tomb

Orhan Gazi is the son of Osman Gazi- the founder of the Ottoman Empire. His tomb lies where the church of St. Elias Monastery used to exist. Today, only some of the church’s remains can be found in the mausoleum. There are architectural styles of the Byzantine Era that can be observed. The sarcophagus of Orhan Gazi is situated in the centre, on a marble base and is surrounded by a lattice made of brass. The sarcophagi of Orhan Gazi’s wife, son and other associates are also present in the mausoleum. Read More

The Panorama 1326 Bursa Conquest Museum is the largest panoramic museum in the world, located in the Osmangazi district of Bursa. The museum's main attraction is the dome with a 360-degree view of the history of the siege in Bursa and the city's conquest by the Ottoman. The exhibition hall has 16 paintings featuring the advancement of the Ottoman Empire and the works of the first 6 Ottoman sultans. The museum has an animation theme hall, exhibition halls, cafeterias, and administrative offices. The museum also hosts various cultural and social events. The Tophane Clock Tower is situated in Tophane Park, in an old citadel near the tombs of Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi. The tower can be seen from any point or place in the city. It displays a neoclassical style and has a dreamy golden view when lit at night. Tophane Clock Tower was built during the 18th century but reconstructed in the 19th century. It also withholds the famous Mount Uludag (the highest point in the Marmara region), the Aras Waterfalls and magnificent glaciers. The Bursa Uludag Gondola, locally known as Teleferik, is an aerial tramway that connects the city of Bursa to Uludag National Park and the skiing resort. It is the world's longest gondola lift line, stretching over 8.8 kilometres. The tram begins at Teferruc and ends at Oteller. There are also VIP cabins in the cable car.
