Le Suquet district represents the original fishing village that Cannes used to be. The quaint, narrow alleys are reminiscent of the old world charm. A group of islands situated in the Mediterranean sea, situated only a 15 minutes boatride away from Cannes.
Lerins Islands are a group of four islands out of which only two are inhabited, St Honorat and Ste Marguerite, offering toursits tranquility away from the life in the main city. The smaller island of St. Honorat contains a monastery and a ruined castle. The monks of monastery sell self made food items and wines. The island of St. Marguerite is larger and has castles, shops, restuarants and bars and is know for its bone-white beaches and eucalyptus groves. Mus_e de la Mer or museum of the sea houses archaeological discoveries from shipwrecks off the coast of the island.

Notre-Dame de l'Esperance
This gothic style church is one of the most important churches in Cannes
The construction of the church was started in the 16th century and it took almost hundered years for its completion. The church features a mix of architectural styles and though the building is built in Gothic style it has a Renaissance porch. The church is a historical monument know for its peaceful interiors and is also the venue for the Suquet music festival held in July.

Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Canness
The venue for the most glamorous event, Cannes Film Festival, the building is used for various other events and festivals throughout the year. The only way to enter the building and walk into the auditorium is with a Palais des Festivals guided tour organised by the Cannes tourist office.
The building was designed by the architects Bennett and Druet,and completed in 1982. Not posing for a photo in front of the building's entrance with its 22 steps under red carpet is irresistible. The Palais des Festivals has 25,000 square meters of space for exhibitions and is equipped with the best avaialble sound and lighting systems, featuring state of the art technical equipments. The building hosts conference such as the G20 summit and the International music trade shows apart from the film festival.
