"New York’s Most Historic State Parks"

Caumsett State Park Tourism

Nestled on the captivating shores of Long Island, Caumsett State Park stands as a testament to nature's splendour. Spanning over 1,500 acres, this haven boasts a harmonious blend of woodlands, meadows, and pristine coastline. The park, a former Gold Coast estate, offers visitors a tranquil retreat from the bustling city life. As you wander through the meticulously preserved landscapes, discover the remnants of a bygone era, where history meets the serenity of nature. Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve is a scenic park located on the north shore of Long Island, New York, USA.

Caumsett State Historic Park, positioned on a scenic promontory extending into Long Island Sound, offers long hauls of bridle paths, walking, jogging, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and nature trails over acres of forestland, meadows, gemstone oceanfront, and Swab Swab swampland. The demesne has beautiful auditoriums, excellent fishing, and scuba diving by permit.

In 1921, Marshall Field III bought 1750 acres of Lloyd Neck to produce one large estate. He named the land after its Matinecock Indian name, Caumsett, which means" place by a sharp gemstone." Field created a tone-sufficient English-style estate as a combination country club, hunting preserve, and home, complete with its own water and electrical force. When the estate was finished, it had installations for every sport except golf.
