Lurie Garden

Located in Millennium Park, Lurie Garden is a 2.5 acres space that features a 15-foot tall hedge, a Boardwalk, and water features. Structured with a metal framework the hedge protects the perennials in the garden, from the pedestrian traffic moving through Millennium Park. The garden is formed using perennials, bulbs, trees, shrubs, and grass. Some of the spring plant bulbs that are installed in the garden by the designer Jacqueline van der Kloet are Wood Anemone, Quamash, drumstick allium, Persian Lily, Daffodils, Tulips, etc. Protected by large hedges are also two plates in the Garden called the light plate and the black plate. The light plate includes no trees, instead, it has sun-loving perennials representing the city’s future. On the other hand, the dark plate depicts the city’s history by shade-loving plant material.
