St. Peter's Church

Situated in 26 church street, Colombo Fort St. Peter's church was constructed in 22 May 1821 Colombo Fort. It is considered as one of the oldest functioning churches in Sri Lanka. During the civil war in Sri Lanka access to the church was highly restricted due to its location directly opposite Colombo harbour. The church has its own cemetery with several monuments, tombs and plaques.

St. Thomas' Church

Located in Kotahena (District 13), St Thomas’s Church is the oldest church in Sri Lanka. The Anglican styled chapel is magnificent with its white walls, polished wooden structures inside the church and simple ancient architecture. The church vicinity has a graveyard with Dutch tombstones engraved in gothic inscriptions.

The Pettah Floating Market is a series of pavilions constructed on the far end of the restored Beira lake between the Pettah bus station and the railway station. There are about ninety trade stalls and shops along the waters, with vendors selling fruits, vegetables and flowers on the wooden boats floating lazily on the lake.  The entrance is on the west side of the market area with a wood-carved flanking marked 'The Floating Market'. The region is beautifully constructed with wooden boards, grey floors, and red terracotta tiles. Viharamahadevi Park

Viharamahadevi is one of the biggest and oldest parks in Sri Lanka, located quite close to the National Museum in Colombo. The park's highlight is a huge Buddha statue accompanied by series of water fountains. It also has a mini zoo and a children’s play area. The park also offers breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. The Viharamahadevi Park was initially known as Victoria Park and was renamed after the mother of King Dutugemunu. The recent renovations to the Viharamahadevi Park have transformed the structure and have made it into a gem of Colombo. It is a family place, with many families on a picnic in the nearby garden and couples spending quality time in the park. Asokaramaya Buddhist Temple

Asokaramaya Buddhist Temple was built in the 1870s to shelter Aluthgama Sangharatne's disciples, who came to hear the monk's sermons. Resplendent with well-preserved statues of Buddha, intricate murals, and an extensive collection of antique items, it features several dagoba stupas, a preaching hall, the sacred Bo-Tree, and a bell tower. In the center is the Dharma Salava, a relic chamber encircled by smaller halls and a grand drawing room.

Attidiya Bird Sanctuary

Bordering the famous Bellanwila Buddhist Temple, Attidiya Bird Sanctuary is the largest wildlife refuge in the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia area of Colombo. Spread over verdant marshes, shallow freshwater ponds, and canals; this reserve park has 166 species of birds, 71 species of butterflies, 44 species of fish, crocodiles, vipers, cobras, and even pythons.
