Angling & Fishing in Jim Corbett National Park

Fishing and angling at Jim Corbett National Park is no longer permitted. You can, however, have a close look at these fishes in the clear water Ramganga and Kosi River.

Bijrani Zone

Bijrani Zone

Bijrani is one of the important zones of the Jim Corbett National Park. It is the best zone after Dhikala to spot the royal Bengal Tiger. Characterised by Sal trees, animals like Chital, Sambar and rare Hog deer can also be spotted here. Bijrani zone is also popular among birdwatchers as it houses almost 600 species of rare and migratory birds. There are two forest rest houses in this zone which are available for stay to tourists. An entry permit for the safari needs to be obtained to entry the Bijrani zone. A safari jeep and a guide are also mandatory to enter the zone. Read More

Corbett Museum

Located at Kaladhungi, Corbett Museum is a bungalow that earlier belonged to Jim Corbett- the well known tiger conservationist. The museum displays his memoirs, his personal belongings, letters written by him as well as his friends and well-wishers, antiques and rare photographs.

Corbett Waterfall

Corbett Waterfall

Corbett Falls is a beautiful waterfall, located 25 km away from Ramnagar in Kaladhungi. Surrounded by dense forests and offering a very serene environment, this 66 ft. high waterfall is a sight to witness, especially on full-moon nights. Nature lovers often camp and come on a picnic near this waterfall. A short 2km trek leads to Corbett Waterfalls.

Dhikala

Dhikala

The Dhikala Forest Lodge is the most popular tourist attraction at Jim Corbett National Park. It is famous for spotting the Bengal tiger, spotted deers, Dhikala Chaur and the rare Hog deer. Dhikala is located 30 km inside the Dhangari gate and is open to tourists from 15 November to 15 June. Dhikala is the only tourism zone where canter safari is available. The rooms at Dhikala Forest Lodge is divided into six different wings offering 32 rooms and 12 bunk beds in two dormitories. There is also a restaurant at Dhikala which serves buffet meals and a canteen run by KMVN. Alcohol and non-vegetarian food is prohibited inside Jim Corbett.  Read More

Durga Devi Zone

Durga Devi Zone at Jim Corbett is famous for its safari through dense forestation and hilly terrain. Other than regional flora and fauna, the enchanting zone houses a number of exotic birds and, therefore, is a favourite amongst bird watchers. Wild Elephants, Spotted and Barking Deer, Sambar, Jackals and the Black Faced Monkey can also be spotted here.

Durga Mandir is an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. The stunning temple architecture with relief work displaying legends of other Hindu deities attracts tourists in large numbers. The temple comes across as quite a surprise in the dense forests of the park but is considered to hold religious importance.

The elephant safari at Jim Corbett National Park was closed permanently in 2018. It was done following an order from Uttarakhand High Court banning all commercial activities involving elephants.

Garjiya Devi Temple

Garjiya Devi Temple

Dedicated to one of Goddess Parvati's incarnations, the Garjiya Devi Temple is perched atop a huge rock in the midst of Kosi River. Located 13 km from Ramnagar, it is one of the most famous temples in the region. It is also home to the deities of Baba Bhairon, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati. A 9th Century black granite statue of Lakshmi Narayan stands within the temple. A large fair is conducted in the temple on Karthik Poornima, the 15th day of the month of Karthik (November - December) in the Hindu Calendar.
