Lady Buddha is a phenomenal 67 meters tall white statue that stands high in the Linh Ung Pagoda courtyard in the Son Tra Peninsula. The feet of the Lady Buddha rests on a white Lotus. The left hand of the Lady Buddha holds the bottle of holy water, and the eyes overlook the sea. The statue can be reached by an arguably difficult trek but is made worth it by the views around it. About 14 km from the city center, the Lady Buddha statue is an imposing albeit benevolent structure. The lotus structure on which it rests has a diameter of 35 meters equivalent to that of a 30-story building. It is believed that the structure is visible from almost 35 kms away. The statue rises up to 17 floors and each floor houses a different Buddha - which essentially means 'The Enlightened One'. Linh Ung Pagoda has the honour of housing the highest statue of Lady Bodhisattva (Lady Buddha) in all of Vietnam, a 67 meters high marvel that sits inside the courtyard of this sanctum. Situated at the far end of Son Tra Peninsula near Da Nang, the majestic Linh Ung Pagoda is a holy sanctuary for millions of devotees who visit this place in large numbers to seek blessings from the supreme power, Buddha. The statue is carved out on a sparkling white marble stone and is one of the many other sculptures of Buddha, and Arhats. Marble Mountains, located just south of Da Nang, are a cluster of five marble and limestone hills. These five hills are dedicated to the five natural elements and are a well-known pilgrimage site. Marian Shrine of the Lady of Tra Kieu is an ancient church in the peaceful citadel Tra Kieu which was formerly called as Simhapura meaning the 'Lion Citadel'. The construction of this shrine dates back to the 19th century and is shrouded with the tales of miracle and magic. The church is an interesting site displaying myriads of Cham sculptures and artefacts in its museum named Van Hoa Cham. The monkey mountain is a formation that juts out of the Son Tra Peninsula, about 12 km from the main city of Da Nang. The monkey mountain resembles a pair of cartoon ears. In the local dialect, it is known as Nui Son Tra but was made popular by the American Soldiers as Monkey Mountain. The monkey mountain is placed at a strategic location with Da Nang on one end and the Hai Van Pass on the other and thus, acted as war base during the US-Vietnam conflict. It was opened to visitors only in the recent past and is now popular as a biking route. The view from the summit of the mountain attracts thousands of adventure seekers and tourists each day. As far as the eye can see you can marvel the views of Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang City, and Cham Island. The mountain still has some Radar Domes that were used by the US military in the days of war and are still operational today, making them a prohibited area for tourists. The Museum of Cham Sculpture is dedicated to Cham Art, displaying over 300 exhibits commemorating the culture, practice, and lifestyle of the Cham tribe (indigenous populace of Vietnam). This is the only museum of its kind in the world. The exhibit is divided into 10 exhibition areas, each of which showcases works from a separate region. Located in Hai Chau District in Da Nang, the Museum of Cham Sculpture building soulfully merges the French, colonial, and Cham influences in its architecture. It was founded in the year 1915 by the Ècole Française D'Extrême Orient. Before turning into a museum, this place was known as the 'garden of sculptures', and since then, it has been expanded twice. The Museum of Sa Huynh & Champa Culture is located on the way to My Son Sanctuary from Da Nang. The museum is located in in the town of Tra Kieu. It is a collection of relics from Sa Huynh and Champa cultures and traces various prehistoric cultures through artefacts and sculptures belonging to the Sa Huynh people and the Champa dynasty. It is believed that these two dynasties were somehow related as it is a common feature to find the remains from these two cultures next to each other.
