A1 Hill
One the most significant sites in Dien Bien Phu, A1 crater was the place where the Viet Minh registered their final victory, bringing to an end the famous Battle of Dien Bien Phu. The Viet Minh fought the battle for a whole 39 days and nights and finally reclaimed the hill by blasting it fro underneath.
This place tells the story of a crucial point in the battle of Dien Bien Phu. There are tanks and a monument devoted to Viet Minh casualties. It is also known as Elaine to the French. The Vietnamese Government has also reconstructed the maze of trenches used by the soldiers during the Battle. Dien Bien Phu Museum
The Dien Bien Phu Museum located in Dien Bien is an attempt to commemorate the historic battle of 1954 fought between the French and the Viet Minh soldiers. The battle translated to victory for the Viet Minh and brought an end to the French occupation of Indochina.
The Museum has a collection of many wartime equipments and weaponries that commemorates the 1954 battle. Along with weapons, a bathtub of French commander, a bicycle used during the war to carry artillery and many photographs are also displayed in the museum.

French War Memorial
The French War Memorial in Dien Bien Phu is the only one built to commemorate the loss of French lives in the historic battle of Dien Bien Phu.
The memorial was built on the 30th anniversary of the brutal 1954 battle and commemorated 3000 martyrs of the French Troops.
