Located around 8 Km from central Diphu in the locality of Matipung, Arboretum Cum Craft Centre is a planned complex consisting of a park, garden and a craft and exhibition centre. The garden is well maintained throughout the year and has a variety of annual and seasonal flowers on display throughout the year. There is also a small park area for children to play in. The Arboretum Cum Craft Centre also houses an open-air stage where events can take place. There is also an indoor hall where smaller events or exhibitions can be organised. While visiting the Arboretum, if you are looking for refreshments, you can head to the cafeteria. Botanical Gardens

5 km from Diphu town towards Marat Longri Sanctuary on the road to Lumding, the Botanical Gardens are one of the very few typically tourists' spots. It is a well-maintained garden where flower, trees and plants native to the district and Assam are grown here. Many medicinal herbs and plants are meticulously grown here by the Forest Division of the government of Assam who are responsible for maintaining the entire complex. A semi-natural water body is also part of the complex which is suitable for boating. Trips with the family, including kids, are highly recommended to the botanical gardens. The large open patches of grass will be particularly attractive for infants and young kids. Replicas of traditional Karbi homes are also on display here. District Museum

District Museum

Established in 1886, the District Museum located at a distance of 2 Kms from central Diphu, houses many regional archaeological artefacts. The collection of exhibits including those of handicrafts, hunting and house tools, ornaments, textiles, and traditional instruments reflect the culture and lifestyle of the various indigenous communities of the region. A brilliant image of Lord Narasimha is also on permanent display within the museum.

Marat Longri Wildlife Sanctuary

Marat Longri Wildlife Sanctuary

The Marat Longri Wildlife Sanctuary, located around 10 Kms from Diphu, is a protected reserve which is a part of the greater Dhansiri-Lunging Elephant Reserve. Spread over an area of approximately 451 sq.kms, this reserve was declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 2003. Although it is relatively underdeveloped, it is home to much important fauna of the region, including the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asiatic Elephant, Himalayan Black Bear and the Hoolock Gibbon. The best time to visit the Marat Longri Wildlife Sanctuary is from November to March. This period marks the winter period in the state of Assam, and the temperatures are relatively cool with humidity being minimal.
