Katergo

Katergo is a small rocky island located in the harbour of Faliraki around the area of Borinos that resembles a stone ship. The rock is visible from the island. However, visitors are not allowed on the rock. Swimming, diving and boating around the Katergo is popular and is an experience in itself. Kathara beach is a fine-grained sandy beach near Faliraki beach that is spread over a stretch of 300 meters and is surrounded by a clear and tranquil Aegean sea. Prophet Amos Monastery

Built in 1838, Prophet Amos Monastery is dedicated to Prophet Amos and has ruins from the 5th century AD. Some Byzantine and post-Byzantine mural paintings are placed on the monastery walls. There is a huge rock with a hole near the church building that is considered auspicious as per tradition. A small cafe, Prophet Amos Cafe, is housed near the monastery that serves local delicacies and beverages.

Named after Nektarios Aeginis, Saint Nectarios Church is a classic Eastern orthodox church built in 1980. Colourful roofs with embellished tiles, high ceilings and an arched tower of the hall make the church a perfect epitome of Greek architecture. The Belltower is the highlight of the church adjacent to the lush green courtyard designed from Finta stone. There are four electric bells as high as 19 meters adorning the building. On the slopes of Mount Psalidi, St George’s Stalactite Cave is a triangle-shaped cave popular as the first human inhabitant's area from the Neolithic age. The trekking route to the cave is medium difficulty and takes 15-20 minutes to complete. Take trekking shoes and gear with you as it is not available there.
