Bai Chay Beach
Being the closest beach to Halong Bay, Bai Chay beach is popular and attracts a lot of crowd during the summer. There are several landmarks here like the Hong Gia Park, Vietnam Cultural Theatre, Antique Museum and the popular Halong Night Market. If you're not interested in sightseeing, you can go jet skiing, surfing or canoeing. There are also plenty of resorts and restaurants here.
Bai Chay Bridge
Bai Chay bridge, located on Halong Bay, connects two important economic centers - Bai Chay and Hon Gai. This cable-stayed bridge has modern and beautiful architecture with a slight curve and two towers. Visit the bridge at night to see it illuminated with the seven colors of the rainbow.
Bai Chay Market
Halong Bay's Bai Chay Night Market is a popular market among tourists and locals due to the wide array of products and the lively atmosphere. There are over a hundred open-air stalls selling items like handicrafts, accesories, clothes, souvenirs and many more. Bargaining is common here and you'll find the prices very affordable.
Bai Tho Mountain
To admire Halong Bay's majestic beauty, one must not miss Bai Tho Mountain, also known as Poem Mountain. This 200-meter-high hill is a half-hour trek, but on reaching the top, the bay's panorama will make it worth a stop. You can see small islands and rocks of different shapes and sizes, and witnessing a sunset here is spectacular.

Cat Ba National Park
Cat Ba National Park is acknowledged as a biosphere reserve located in the northern part of Vietnam. The National Park is a world heritage site and is administered by the nearest city of Hai Phong. Geographically, the park is located in an archipelago which has 367 other islands adjoining the Ha Long Bay. Trekking at Cat Ba National Park is known to be an indispensable activity for enthusiastic visitors. The forested limestone view after the trek magnetizes the young crowd across the globe.
One other unique feature about the Cat Ba National Park is that it is home to the Cat Ba Langur or the white-headed langur, which is known to be a critically endangered primate and one of the rarest as well. Cat Co 1 is a rather popular beach on Cat Ba Island with many restruants, one resort and a good amount of crowd on the beach. You'll see locals and tourists just lazing around on the white sand, swimming, snorkelling or playing volleyball. Indulge in either of these activities or grab a bite from the many restaurants, but don't expect any peace at this beach.
