Harihareshwar is a small town in the Raigad district of Maharashtra located just 200 km away from Mumbai. It is a popular weekend getaway from Mumbai and Pune for the tranquil beach holiday. The town is dotted with some beaches and temples and is famous for the rich variety of fruits and shrubs that tourists love to take back from home from Harihareshwar.
The city isn't much known for its markets. Hence, there isn't much to buy from the local markets. However, you can find two temples inside the greater complex of the Harihareshwar temple. The entrance to the temple is lined up with some shops and local markets that sell the various religious souvenirs and the holy objects for the offerings inside the temple. Apart from this, you can also enjoy the fresh fruits that are grown in the town. You can also enjoy the handmade juices and sharbat of the juicy fruits such as those of Amrit kokum and jambul.

Ganesh Gully
As the name suggests, this is a gulley - a narrow (just 3 feet) passage - between two rocky mountains.
At the end of the gully, there is an idol of Lord Ganesh atop the revered niche which is usually submerged 30 feet in water. When the tide is low, it is said that tourists can catch a glimpse of the idol.
Harihareshwar Beach
One of the less crowded beaches in Maharashtra, the Harihareshwar beach is located in the Raigad district, around 200km from Mumbai. Surrounded by four hills named Harihareshwar, Harshinachal, Bramhadri and Pushpadri, Harihareshwar is often referred to as Dev-Ghar or "house of God". It is usually called as 'Dakshin Kashi' because of its temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The place has a lot of accommodation options according to every budget and liking.
Harihareshwar has two beaches on either side of Harihareshwar temple, the main attraction of Harihareshwar. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has also established a beach resort on the southern-most of the two beaches. One of these beaches is a straight stretch of about 2.4 km and lies in front of the temple, while the second L-shaped beach is about 2 km and lies in front of the MTDC Resort. Harihareshwar along with the two beaches named as, Shrivardhan and Diveagar Beach, form a widely popular weekend getaway, especially from Pune and Mumbai. Harihareshwar is a renowned tourist spot in Konkan and is mainly known for its temple and beaches. It is an evergreen place, i.e. it can be visited at any time throughout the year due to favourable weather conditions. It is nestled in the lap of the beautiful range of Sahyadri's hills. Apart from the well set-up beach, temple and the MTDC Resort, one can find various accommodation facilities here. Harihareshwar witnesses an annual celebration of the Kal Bhairav Jayanti Utsav, which is a famous festival, celebrated on the birth of the deity Kal Bhairav. This tradition was initiated by Mr Yashawant Balawant Nagle, who was the Sardar of Queen of Janjira administrating the Harihareshwar Village. He also funded the Temple Management by donating a significant chunk of his properties.

Kalbhairav Temple
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this is one of the most ancient and the most renowned temples of Maharashtra. The deity of Lord Shiva and Kalbhairav, the lord of all manthra shastras, are places in the temple along with others. It is believed that Lord Shiva created Kalbhairava and blessed him with all manthras.
The architecture of the temple is quite unique and attractive. Apart from the excellent design, the cool breeze from the sea makes the temple complex a cool and pleasant place to sit back and relax.

Somja Devi Temple
Find yet another ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Somja in Srivardhan. It is believed that the Goddess helps in extracting the venom of snake from the body of the person. The victims pray and undertake Pradakshinaas or Dandvat that is circumscribing the temple by lying flat on the stomach.
Srivardhan Beach
This beach is nearly 20 km from Harihareshwar. The blackish sand and the sound of the waves attracts many here. Adventure water sports including paragliding, water surfing, etc. can be enjoyed here. Trekking the nearby cliffs of Shrivardhan is also a major attraction for adventure seekers.
