Cathedral of Immaculate Conception
One of the finest examples of Gothic culture, architecture in Hong Kong, the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception located on Caine Road is an architectural masterpiece. Its main building design is in a cruciform shape with a tower erected at the intersection of the cross and overall has a very simplistic yet elegant design. It was given an honourable mention by UNESCO in 2003 and bears testimony to the development of the city.
Cattle Depot Artists Village
Cattle Depot Artists Village lies on Ma Tau Kok Rd in To Kwa Wan, Hong Kong. It was formerly a quarantine base and slaughterhouse before it was converted into a local art community in 2001. It is home to Videotage, the UNESCO listed media art organization, On and On theatre workshop, the art gallery 1a Space and the studio of Frog King.
Central and Western Heritage Trail
The Central and Western Heritage Trail, is an historic walk through some of the prominent landmarks in the city. Introduced in October of 1997, this path courses through 3 sections; the Central route, the the Shueng Wan Route and the Western District and the Peak Route.
The Central district hosts an abundance of European architecture due to the heavy British-colonial impact on the region. Launched by the Antiquities and Monument Office of the regional Leisure and Cultural Services Department, this Heritage Trail includes around 40 ancient buildings and sites which have been destroyed over the years.

Central-Mid-Levels Escalators
The Central-Mid-Levels escalator and walkway system is the world’s largest outdoor covered escalator system. Covering a distance of 800 meters and traversing to an elevation of 135 meters, it provides a link between the Central and Mid Levels districts of Hong Kong.
The Mid-Levels Escalator system is segmented into 20 escalators with 14 entrances and exits which means that visitors can hop on and off when and wherever they fancy to enjoy the markets, restaurants and other stores which run through the entire route. Moreover, this escalator system holds a legendary value as it has been the filming location of several pop culture films including ‘The Dark Knight’. While riding the complete length of the escalator system takes about 25 minutes, the kind of experience it has on offer is unparalleled.

Chai Wan Mosque
The fifth mosque to have been landmarked in Hong Kong, the Chai Wan Mosque lies on Cape Coliinson Road. The luxurious marble interiors of this mosque stand out. With three indoor prayer halls and an outside prayer hall for smaller religious meetings, the Chai Wan Mosque was declared a Grade 3 Historic Building on the 17th of May, 2010.
Chater Garden
Home to over 27 species of trees and numerous birds and insects, the Chater Garden is a public park is situated close to the Chater Road. The garden also provides a tree walk that takes visitors through its green collection. Chater garden also is home to quite a few colourful flora and fruit-bearing trees and shrubs. There are toilet facilities as well. Some of the tourist attractions close to the garden are the peak tram and the HK zoo.
Sha Tin Che Kung Temple
The Che Kung Temple, also called ‘Che Kung Miu’, is a temple located in the Tai Wai area of Sha Tin, Hong Kong. This temple, rather than being dedicated to a spiritual entity, is built in the honour of Che Kung, a military commander of the Southern Song Dynasty. He is valorized for his attempts to suppress the uprisings in Southern China and to save the dynasty from several catastrophes. There are two Che Kung dedicated temples in Hong Kong with the second one being located in Ho Chung.
The interior of Che Kung temple embraces a giant statue of Che Kung along with a huge drum and bells. Another centre of attraction in the temple happens to be a 3 blade fan-shaped wheel of fortune which is believed to bring good luck when spun three times. Local vendors outside the temple provide vegetables and fruits for donations along with incense sticks. While entry to Che Kung temple is free, a small donation is appreciated for it is the only source of income for the temple.

Che Kung Temple at Sha Tin
Also known as the Che Kung Temple, the Che Kung Miu is said to have been originally built to contain an epidemic that was spreading across Sha Tin 300 years ago. Located on the Tai Wai premises, the temple houses a massive Che Kung statue at the altar of the main prayer hall. It is also listed amongst the must-visit temples in Hong Kong.
Cheng Chau
Cheung Chau or ‘The Dumbell Island’, nicknamed so because of its shape, is one amongst several islands comprising the landscape of Hong Kong. Lying at a distance 10 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong, it is only a ferry’s ride away from the Central ferry pier. Ranging from picturesque beaches to cycle rides and to the delicious seafood, Cheung Chau has everything for a perfect picnic spot.
Despite its small area, Cheung Chau has been one of Hong Kong’s most popular island getaways owing to the disparate attractions it has on offer. The ferry ride to the island is an adventure in itself. The walk through Cheung Chau is filled with sights of fruit and vegetable stands, herbal shops and street food. The east side of the island embraces a couple of beautiful beaches which are the spot to be on a hot day while the Southern end is home to the ‘Mini Great Wall’, a trail that overlooks the South China Sea.
