Mansar Food and Craft Mela is one of the major events organised in Jammu, celebrated every year in April during the harvest festival of Baisakhi. This 3-day fair, organised by the Department of Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir, is a fantastic way of people to find local crafts created by skilled artisans, the mouth-watering delicacies of the region, and experience the age-old traditions and customs of this northern state shown in a grand and enthusiastic manner. The mela is held at the exquisite Mansar Lake, located 62 kms from Jammu. This festive arena hosts a range of local handicrafts, made with exceptional workmanship displayed in its elegant finish. The authenticity of these products tends to give one a feeling of sophistication and class by just being in its presence. These products include paintings, pottery, beautiful artefacts, wall hangings, screens, jewellery boxes, and spectacular room dividers. Gorgeous designs of hunting, flowers, and frolicking animals are the main themes for this visual treat, as well as the famous and complex Nakarshi design and arrangement, which involves the integration of 5 layers of multicoloured lacquer. One is treated to the finesse of wonderfully crafted furniture and items from walnut, as well as the extensive collection of various creations of mimic stone works, a feature that this state is famous for. Fringed by dense forest, small parks, temple and low lying hills, Lake Mansar, together with its twin lake surinsar, is a very popular picnic spot and Pilgrimage site. Over and mile in length and half a mile in width, it is situated 62 km from Jammu. Besides being a popular excursion site, it shares the legend and sanctity of Lake Mansarovar.  One can also visit the surinsar lake and the Surinsar - Mansar wildlife sanctuary nearby. Mansar is a perfect destination to escape from the hectic schedule of life, immerse in nature and rediscover yourself.  Mansar Lake is also home to two temples, Umapati Mahadev & Narasimha and temple of Durga apart from many others which are regularly visited by the devotees. The shrine encompasses a big boulder on which some iron chains symbolize the small serpents waiting on the deity of the Sheshnag. Most of the newlyweds consider it auspicious to perform three circumambulations (Parikarma) around the lake to seek the blessings of Sheshnag. Many Hindu communities perform the Mundan ceremony (First haircut) of their male children here. It is also a common belief that the waters of Mansar Lake can wash away the sins committed. Apart from all the religious and sacred activities, Lake Mansar is also famous for its flora & fauna and the perfect natural environment. The Mubarak Mandi is a royal palace in Jammu that once served as the residence of the maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir from the Dogra dynasty. Found in the history-rich city of Poonch, the Poonch Fort hosts a series of grand structures reflective of a combination of architectural styles of the various reigns these lands have witnessed. This majestic complex is sprawled across the top of a small hill, covering an area of 7,500 sqm. The structures within the fort are arranged around four irregular courtyards. The initial structures of the fort were built by the Dogra rulers in the 18th century. The major buildings display a keen influence of Mughal architecture. The central building is constructed during the rule of the Sikhs, thus combining the edifices within to showcase classic styles of these three rules. Fascinated by the unique architecture of the fort, the late 19th century saw Raja Moti Singh consistently renovating, hiring a European architect to oversee the preservation. One can find a small mosque, a temple and a Gurudwara within the premises.The palatial structure is a great display of a mix of the features of histories of Indian rulers. Raghunath Temple, Jammu

The Raghunath Temple is a prominent temple and tourist spot that is located in Jammu, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The temple is also one of the biggest complexes in entire northern India and is brimming with devotees all year round. The construction of the Raghunath Temple was started by Maharaja Gulab Singh around 130 years ago, during the period from 1822 to 1860; and was later on completed by his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh. The regal temple has many gods and goddesses, but the presiding deity is Lord Rama, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The temple which is located in the old part of the Jammu city and to the north of Tawi river provides the onlooker with an idea of the influence of the Mughal style of architecture on the temple. However, the tower that can be found over the main shrine is said to be built in the Sikh architectural style. The Raghunath Temple comprises a complex of seven Hindu shrines. The magnificent temple also has seven Shikharas or spires, where each shrine has its separate shikhara. The inner walls of the main temple are plated with gold sheets on its three sides.
