Bhopatgad Fort
Another major spot defining the antiquity of the city's past. Bhopatgad Fort also serves as a significant historic place. Established by Chhatrapati Shivaji, this fort is comparatively small in size and is almost synonymous with Maratha Kingdom.
The fort comprises of dark inner chambers and is said to be crafted with dilapidated rock. As per the legend it at this fort only that Shivaji use to hold his personal and official meetings. It is also said the Lord Ram also visited this fort along with his wife Sita and their son Lava and Kusha. The evidence of Lord Ram's visit can be seen in form of the four footprints present here.
