Durga Temple
A famous temple of the region, the Durga temple is located near the remnants of the Summer Palace. Long ago, human heads were offered to Ma Durga as sacrifice.
Later, during the British rule, this practice was abandoned. This temple is more than 5 centuries old and is extremely rich in historic and cultural values.
Jarain Pitcher Plant Lake
Surrounded by the fascinating carnivorous pitcher plants, boat rides in this lake are a great experience. The plants, spread over 50,000 sq. m proves to be a unique sight for all.
A fountain shaped like a pitcher plant has been installed in the middle of the lake. This pretty lake sits placidly amid gravelled footpaths, arch bridges, pitcher plant garden and green house-interpretation centre. This is a popular place to visit for the locals and tourists alike.

Krang Suri Falls
Krang Suri is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the District. It is located in the Amlarem Civil Sub Division.? Chiseled and graveled footpaths and view points to enable visitors to better appreciate the beauty of the waterfall and its surroundings have been added to the complex.
Lalong Park
Famous for its sacred groves and beautiful Pynthorwah Valley, the Lalong park has gained popularity in terms of tourist destinations. A water eco park is apparently also taking shape with an intention to change Ialong into a major Tourism Hub of the District.
Nartiang Monoliths
Monoliths exist throughout the length and breadth of the Khasi and Jaintia Hills. However, the largest collection of monoliths lies here. Here lie the remnants of the 'Summer Palace'. The archway of the site has been made using red bricks - and is quite a sight.
Stone Bridge
This is an old historic stone bridge used by the Jaintia Rajas to cross while travelling from their Summer Capital in Nartiang to their Winter Capital in Jaintiapur (now in Bangladesh). This strong structure was broken once when an elephant tried crossing it.
Syntu Ksair
Meaning the 'flower of gold', the Syntu Ksair is located on the banks of Minted river. This is the centre of the freedom struggle led by Kiang Rambagh. A memorial has also been set up here in honour of him.
Thadlaskein Lake
Located at Mukhla, near the highway about 20 kilometers from the district town of Jowai, this is a beautiful lake with anthropological importance as well.
The lake is crystal clear and replects the blue sky. Unharmed and untouched by man's force, the purity is reflected in the lake. Purely natural in sound and sight, it has now turned into a pleasant picnic spot. A small hotel managed by Meghalaya Tourisn is just across the road which offers clean and good service.

Tryshi Falls
These falls are compared with the Elephant falls of Shillong. A bridge connects the waterfall's surroundings with an expanse of green paddy fields. A breathtaking panoramic view of the Pynthor Nein is visible from the bridge. A trek to the bottom of the falls is amazing too.
Umlawan Cave
Meghalaya takes pride in housing the sub-continent's deepest and largest caves - the Umlawan Caves. These caves are interconnected with the Kot Sati and Umskor Caves. Innumerable stalagmites and stalactites add to the look of these caves. The caves are 100 m deep and 21km long.
