"Mini Switzerland of India"

Khajjiar Tourism

Nestled in the lap of the majestic Himalayas, Khajjiar is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. Known as the "Mini Switzerland of India," this picturesque town captivates visitors with its lush green meadows, dense deodar forests, and pristine Khajjiar Lake. Immerse yourself in the tranquilly of this charming destination, where nature unveils its unparalleled beauty.Khajjiar, often referred to as the "Mini Switzerland of India," is a picturesque hill station in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Known for its lush green landscapes, dense forests, and beautiful lake, Khajjiar offers a serene and enchanting retreat.

Frequently referred to as the mini-Switzerland of India', Khajjiar is a small city located near( 20 km) Dalhousie and is great for a day or late trip. Khajjiar is known for its picture-perfect grassy meadows. There's the Khajjiar Lake in the middle of the meadow, and you could enjoy the decor by boarding or taking part in some of the adventure sports, including paragliding, zorbing, and steed-riding.

Located at an altitude of 6,500 feet, Khajjiar is also known for its nine-hole golf course, which is nestled in the midst of lush verdure and a stirring geography. Still, the way to Khajjiar can be closed occasionally during layoffs because of heavy snowfall. The hilly city is also the most sought-after destination for work, as there are a plenitude of homestays and some immolation-mesmerizing views of the Kailash Parbat. Visit Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary on your way from Dalhousie to Khajjiar.

The mesmerising beauty of this place has greatly inspired numerous fiefdoms throughout history, including the Rajputs and Mughals. The Khajji Nag tabernacle was erected in the 12th century and has been attracting addicts ever ago.

It isn't delicate to understand why Khajjiar is frequently referred to as the mini-Switzerland of India. The wide grassy areas that meet thick timbers of deodar and cedar, with lodges dotting them at occasional intervals, give them an appearance analogous to the Swiss countryside. However, and wishing there was such a place closer to home, well, if you have seen analogous geographies in pictures and magazines,. You can choose to drive during your trip to Khajjiar, but you would be missing a lot of the fun if you were touring from Chamba. The beauty that marks the route is well worth the time and trouble.

The story behind how Khajjiar came to be known as the “ mini Switzerland ” of India is intriguing. It was Mr. Willy T. Blazer, Vice Counsellor and Head of Chancery of Switzerland, who first called it so. He was so besotted of its geography that he placed a sign board of an unheroic Swiss hiking path which showed the distance from Bernes, the capital of Switzerland, to Khajjiar- 6194 km. Indeed, though this happened back in 1992, the magnet of the place has not lowered a bit.

Khajjiar is a small hill station located in Chamba quarter and is a notorious sightseer magnet in Himachal Pradesh. You should visit this quaint and comforting place to simply celebrate its actuality. Just walk wherever you want, breathe freely, feel the touch of the soft lawn, or walk as far as your legs take you. Most of the people who visit it are attracted by its geography and enjoy nothing better than just feasting their eyes on this awful outlook laid out by nature.

Khajjiar is deficient without its lake, which is known as Khajjiar Lake. It stands right in the middle of the meadows that are girdled by thick cedar timbers. The lake is beautiful by itself and plays a large part in contributing to the overall beauty of the area. The lake hosts a floating islet. Upon closer inspection, you discover that it’s a patch of lawn that floats continuously on the face.

Other ways of spending time at the lake are horseback riding and zorbing. You can also enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Kailash from the lake. However, you'll have a lot to look forward to at Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary if you're a tour sucker. The geography is then marked by thick coniferous timbers and crossed by several aqueducts, both of which produce the right conditions for touring and nature walks. Major wildlife lodestones in the sanctuary are Himalayan black marten, barking goral, leopard, jackal, langur, and bear.

Khajji Nag Temple is another sight-seeing magnet to visit in Khajjiar. Besides being a religious structure, it's also a major one, as it was erected during the 12th century. Located on the banks of the lake, it's devoted to the Lord of the Serpents. Its armature shows an awful emulsion of Hindu and Muslim styles. Outside, there are images of Lord Shiva, Goddess Hadimba, Pandavas, and Kauravas.

Those thick timbers that encircle the meadows at Khajjiar are home to some lovely townlets. Two of these are Rota and Ladi. Both of these townlets are notorious for their apple vineyards and the amazing views they offer of the snow-covered hills and Mt. Kailash.
