Beyond the strands are thick mangrove timbers home to abundant wildlife and foliage. Kratie is a popular destination among the excursionists who arrive in large numbers to witness the vibrant ecosystem and a whole swash city with social architecture and authentic Cambodian countryside. Kratie is a fairly remote and not heavily touristic destination in northeastern Cambodia. And that’s the main reason why excursionists flock then, with the stopgap of spotting these inconceivable brackish brutes formerly in their continuance. Kratie is a great place to stop and decompress in the middle between bustling Phnom Penh Capital and the northwest jungles of Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri. However, it’s relatively sure that after reading our companion of the top lodestones in Kratie, this lesser-known part of the country will win a place in your heart if you want to wind deeper into the “ real ”Cambodia. The Cambodian city of Kratie, which is located in the fiefdom of the same name, is generally known as the home of the Mekong Irrawaddy dolphin, and numerous callers flock there to float on the calm swash waters, hoping to spot one. But its position at the interior point between Phnom Penh and the hardcore outlands of the northwest jungles of Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri provides more to do in and around this bitchy city than keeping an eye out for submarine life. The stretch of the swash around Kratie city is home to a group of rare, sweet-water Irrawaddy dolphins. Thus, the dolphins are the main sightseer magnets of the fiefdom and the city. The swash also has hundreds of green islets and circling water, which are also attracting some excursionists. Kratie city is sleepy but graphic, with bars and big islets out front and bends in the swash. Unlike in numerous municipalities around Cambodia, the war times were fairly kind to the French army and the roads, at least in the city itself. There are some nice-looking homes of French and Khmer style scattered about, adding to the affable sense of the place. You will also find a bustling request which is a great place to watch frogs being barked( and escaping first through the holes in the nets), sample some succulent foods( similar to lately grilled sludge galettes) and generally take in pastoral Cambodian life. The rare brackish Irrawaddy dolphins make their home in the Mekong River, just north of Kratie. With only around 120 remaining, they're surely worth a visit. Whether you're just on a trip seeing the swash municipalities along the Mekong or taking a full-circuit trip around the east and northeast, Kratie is a nice place to spend a night or two. The swash scene of Kratie has a beautiful swash street with dozens of snack and drink stands in the late autumn and evening, making this a nice spot to chill out and watch the people parading by.
