KidZania Kuala Lumpur is a children's theme park - a mini-city that spans across an area of 80,000 sq. ft. Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is a 20.9-acre public aviary adjacent to the Lake Gardens. Also known as Taman Burung Kuala Lumpur, this is the largest covered bird park in the world, housing more than 3,000 birds. The area has been divided into 4 zones, each offering a wide range of activities to try out.
There are feeding booths at various points in every zone where one can feed cut fruits and milk to the free-flying birds.
KL Forest Eco Park
The KL Forest Eco Park, formerly the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, is the only tropical rainforest in Kuala Lumpur. The 9-hectare forest reserve is also one of the oldest forest reserves in Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden
Situated opposite the KL Lake Gardens, the Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden boasts about 800 species of orchids. While the orchid garden occupies an area of just one hectare, it houses about six thousand orchids which is a true sight to behold. The Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden also houses exotic species of flowers which are quite rare to find.
The Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden has two main varieties of orchids namely Terrestrial Orchids and Epiphytic Orchids. It is interesting to note that the Epiphytic Orchids feed on dead plant matter. Further, they absorb the moisture from the host’s crannies and nooks. This variety of orchids is mostly found in Malaysia since the country experiences tropical climatic conditions. On the other hand, the Terrestrial Orchids are rooted in soil. Guan Di Temple
One of the oldest and most revered places of worship in Kuala Lumpur, the Kuan Ti or Guan Di temple is dedicated to Guandi- the Taoist God of war and literature. Incepted in 1888, this 124 -year old holy shrine is located along Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre. Along with a statue of Kuan Ti on the main altar, this temple houses manifestations of Guan Yin (Goddess of mercy), Wel Chong (God of learning and education), and Choy Sun (God of prosperity).
Painted in gold, the altar of Guan Di includes the Guan Dao (sword) and Guan Jie (spear) of Guan Di. The devotees believe that these weapons have special powers that will bless them if they touch or try to raise them. Besides the altar, you will find two wooden statues each of Guan Ping and Zhou Cang who were Guandi’s attendants. This sacred shrine is guarded by two lions since the Chinese believe that lions keep off the negative energy and protect from viciousness. On the left side, you will find a male lion and on the right, a female lion is holding a baby lion. Dragons are attractively carved on the temple roof and they are beautifully coiled around the two main pillars constructed in the interior of the temple.
