Lake Harriet

Lake Harriet is a home away from home for the Pahrump Poolfish. They were tiny fishes that are about two inches long with a gray colour. The fishes almost were extinct in 1975 when the groundwater was drying up. Dr.James Deacon who was a fish biologist then saved the fishes from becoming extinct when he rescued 29 of these fishes and since then Lake Harriet is their new home where the fishes have survived for generations now. The Lake was a man-made reservoir that was built in the year 1948. The lake is surrounded on all sides by old trees and tall cattails. There is a loop around the lake and benches are placed at certain distances as well where you could sit and enjoy the lake in all its glory. There are usually mallard ducks and swallows as well so you would be lucky if you get to spot them. It is a pretty lake and a place that people can go to if they want to enjoy some serenity.
