Cathedrale de Notre Dame
This cathedral goes way back in time, right upto the Middle Ages. It is a popular landmark of Lausanne.
Cath_drale de Notre Dame is often dubbed as the Queen of Lausanne's Old Town. Built in Gothic style, the building has lots of large towers and rose windows that date all the way back to the 13th Century. It also includes a church in the heart of it and also boasts of the Great Pipe Organ.
Lavaux Vineyards
The terraced vineyards of Lavaux are worth a visit. The area is protected by UNESCO and lies between Lausanne and Montreux.
You can rent a bike or stroll along to explore the terraced vineyards. You can see how they operate using solar energy, thermal power and radiation. You could also opt for a tour or help out a winemaker as he goes about his daily job. Needless to say, wine tasting is also available here.
Musee de L'Elysees
This museum in Lausanne is like an ode to photography. It was founded back in 1958, in an elegant mansion.
A haven for photography enthusiasts, Mus_e de L'Elys_es has a lot to show you. There are more than 100,000 photographs inside this excitig museum. From the old and popular colour photographs of Gabriel Lippmann to the more contemporary styles of Jeff Wall, this museum offers all of that and more. Nicolas Bouvier (photographer) and Ella Maillart (great traveler and photographer), have left their collections to this museum as well, so you can go take a look. The best part about this museum is that it also houses Charlie Chaplin's entire photographic collection!
