Duke’s Nose is a popular viewpoint located about 7 kilometres from Lonavala. It is hugely famous for hiking and its picturesque location. Ghangad is a magnificent fortress situated 30 kms from Lonavala. The fort boasts of being atleast 300 years old and was recently restored by the Shivaji Trail group. It is believed that the fort was originally used to confine prisoners and keep a watch on the trade route between Pune and Konkan.

Karla Caves are ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves and a famous tourist attraction located near Lonavala. Also known as Karli Caves, Karle Caves or Karla Cells, it is one of the oldest Buddhist cave shrines in India. These caves houses one of the largest Chaityas (prayer hall with a stupa) in India. Karla Caves is mainly known for the Ekvira Temple located inside. Also known as Veluraka in the olden times, Karla Caves house a humongous 15 - meter pillar along with a temple dedicated to Goddess Ekveera. It also houses a Buddhist monastery which is believed to have been built there around 2nd century BC. Kataldhar Waterfalls is situated around 6 kms from Lonavala and is one of the most stunning waterfalls in the region. It is slightly unpopular and not known by many because it is hidden from view and can only be reached through a trek in the valley.

Koregad (also known as Korigad, Koarigad, Kumwarigad) is a hill fort located at a distance of around 20 kms from Lonavala. Perched atop an isolated hill away from the din and chaos of the city, the fort spells magnificent and grandeur in all its form. Tucked away at a desolate distance from the main township, the place boasts of panoramic vistas of the adjacent meadows, verdant green woods, sweeping views of the adjoining hills and an all around environment of serenity, solitude and ataraxy. Built at a height of 923 metres above the sea level, the fort is believed to have been built in the 1500 BC and is the only one of its kind in the town. The nearest village to the fort is Peth Shahpur located at a distance of about 1 km from the castle. The top of the hill offers a splendid view of the valley below and the nearby running streams.
