Chatsworth Reservoir

The Chatsworth Reservoir is located within the Chatsworth Nature Preserve, a 1,325-acre preserve in the north-west of San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, California. It was the last of the 19 water-retention basins created to store water from the Owens Valley, linked via the Los Angeles Aqueduct. The reservoir was constructed as two earth-filled dams and two smaller dikes between the hills of the preserve. Primarily constructed to provide water for irrigation purposes of western San Fernando Valley, the onset of suburban housing prompted the shift to the domestic water supply.
