Japanese American National Museum

Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree is an American National Park in Southeastern California, in the east of Los Angeles and San Bernardino. It is located in Riverside County & San Bernardino County, California, and is forty miles apart from Palm springs. This National Park was formed in October 1994. It is an extensive & protected area of around 3,200 sq. km. in Southern California with uneven rocky formations and an arid desert landscape. Joshua Tree National Park is named by the Mormon Settlers, who visited the area in the mid-1800s after the bristled & twisted Joshua trees found in the region.
Most of the park's desert ecosystem embraces these slow growing Joshua trees. The National Park Service oversees the management of this park.Joshua Tree National Park is also famous for camping. There are four campgrounds, namely Black Rock, Cottonwood, Indian Cove, and Jumbo Rocks, that can be booked by reservation. The peak months are from Oct to May. Some regions of the park are for day use only. Tickets are available at the park entrance and visitors centers.

Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area
The Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is a 401-acre state park established in 1984. Located in the hills of Greater Los Angeles, this park was named after Kenneth Hahn, who was instrumental in establishing the park. Guests here can camp overnight after seeking permission from the park authorities, and can enjoy activities like fishing and hiking. The park is also home to a variety of birds and animals. Bird watchers can visit the park for birdwatching walks conducted by the local Audubon Society chapters.

Korean Bell of Friendship
The Korean Bell of Friendship was gifted to the United States by the South Korean government on their bicentennial anniversary. Located in Angel’s Gate Park, the bell is housed in the Belfry of Friendship, a stone pagoda.
The bell, modelled after the famous Emille Bell in Korea, weighs a massive 17 tons and is made of copper and tin. This makes the bell amongst the largest in the world. The bell is struck 13 times every first Saturday at noon and is done so with a large wooden log. The exterior of the bell is adorned with the Taegeuk, found on the Korean flag, a branch of South Korea’s national flower, the rose of Sharon. The other engravings include a dove of peace and a branch of laurels, which is a universal symbol of victory.The pagoda itself was traditionally designed by South Korean craftsmen. Symmetrically designed, the roof is held by 12 pillars that represent the Korean Zodiac, with each pillar being guarded by a carved animal. The park surrounding the pagoda overlooks the Los Angeles harbour. It is a great place to view the sunset over the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean.

La Brea Tar Pits and Museum
Sited amid the bustling streets of urban Los Angeles, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in Hancock Park is one of the very few excavation sites open to exploring for the history buffs. A site with multiple fenced lakes of black slush called the asphalt, this fossil collection has preserved bones and remains of numerous ancient creatures like mammoth and Saber-tooth cats.
