Places To Visit In Maui
Kahanu Garden
Kahanu Garden is located on the eastern coast of Hana on the Maui island. It is home to one of the largest native hala forests, thanks to its location by the ocean. It is known for promoting plant collections from the Pacific islands of Hawaii, Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia.
The garden is home to the Pi’ilanihale Heiau, a lava-rock structure considered by many to be the largest manmade structure built in ancient days. Visitors are also given explanations by the staff about the cultural heritage of the plants and how the plants were transported in ancient canoes back in the day. It is home to the largest collection of breadfruit cultivars, an important food crop in the region.

Kahili Golf Course
Located in the King Kamehameha Golf Club, the Kahili Golf Course in Maui is a hidden and unpopular gem. This 18-hole public golf course spread over 6,560 yards of greenery on the hillside of the West Maui mountains features slanted fairways. Built among the sandalwoods at the Waikapu, the golf course also stretches across a sugar cane valley.
Kahoolawe
Of the eight main islands in Hawaii, Kahoolawe is the smallest, making it the smallest of the islands in Maui as well. The island is known for having no resident population and until recently, was used by the military for training drills and such. Now, the island can only be used for Hawaiian cultural and traditional practices.
Kahului Airport
Kahului Airport is the only one of the three airports in Maui that can allow travellers to fly directly to Maui from the mainland US. Sandwiched between the town of Haleakala and the mountains, the airport is located just 3km from the main town of Kahului. It is also the most convenient way to get to the island.
Kapalua Airport
Located on the west section of the island, the Kapalua Airport operates as a commercial airline airport and offers service only to commuter aircraft and propeller planes only. For those travellers that have aviation interests, it also allows private planes access to it as well.
Keawakapu Beach
Located cozily between Kihei and Wailea, Keawakapu Beach is a great beach for snorkeling, watching sea turtles, and incredible scenery. The name of the beach is translated as a forbidden cove in English. This non-touristy beach offers powder-white sand and happens to be the most frequented by the divers.
Divers enjoy coming to the beach mainly for one reason: the underwater artificial reef. This manmade reef contains over 2,000 tire modules, 150 junk cars, concrete slabs, and more. It was created to protect the shoreline from strong swells and to offer a home for the marine creatures. Visitors can also enjoy swimming, doing yoga, lounging, strolling, among other relaxing activities.
