This was the hotel that was used as accommodation for executives of the pineapple company to stay when they were on the island.
Lower Puohokamoa Falls
The Lower Puohokamoa Falls is situated by the Hana Highway, between 10-11 mile marker. It is a part of two waterfalls of Puohokamoa Falls: the Upper Puohokamoa Falls and the Lower Puohokamoa Falls.
Among these two waterfalls, the most accessible one is the Upper Puohokamoa Falls. But the falls are now nestled within a private property and aren’t open to the public. And the Lower Puohokamoa Falls is hidden from plain sight, which makes the falls truly a hidden gem. This 200-foot waterfalls is situated right below the Hana Highway and requires a hike to get to the destination. The hike is preferably suited for seasoned hikers, but the view of the waterfall at the start of the trail is worthwhile, too. But keep in mind, the trail to Lower Puohokoma Falls is said to be on private land, so if there’s a sign that says private property, do turn around.

Makahiku Falls
A 200-foot horsetail waterfall, Makahiku Falls in Haleakala National Park in Maui, Hawaii, runs along the Ohe’o Gulch stream. To get to the falls, one must pass through the Pipiwai Trail.
Considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Maui, Makahiku Falls sits at an elevation of 650 feet, with 4 miles roundtrip. It takes approximately two and half hours to get to the falls, depending on how absorbed one gets amidst nature. The waterfall is considered a horsetail waterfall because of how the water keeps in touch with the bedrock until it gets to the bottom. It falls narrowly towards the start and widens as it hits the bottom, giving it a look of a horsetail.

Makapipi Falls
Another popular waterfall along Hana road, Makapipi Falls, compared to other falls, is the most easily accessible one. Although there are many waterfalls in this area, what makes Makapipi Falls special is that visitors can stand above the waterfalls, offering visitors a great vantage point of the water gushing into the blue pool beneath.
The flow of Makapipi Falls depends on the season, most particularly during the rainy season. But if it’s flowing during other seasons, it’s quite interesting to watch. To get to the falls, visitors can park after the bridge and walk back to the bridge and make their way to the waterfall.
