The Zoo Miami, also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens, covers around 750 acres of land and is the fifth largest zoo in the United States and the largest in entire Florida; they take a lot of care and put in a lot of effort to make the environment of the zoo as similar to the original environment of the species’ habitat. There are around 500 different species of animals including birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles, and 1000 different species of trees in the zoo. There are amphibians like the blue poison dart frog, giant waxy monkey frog, etc, birds like the American flamingo, bald eagle, etc, mammals like the alpaca, Bactrian camel, etc, and reptiles like the crocodile monitor, caiman lizard, etc. There are also a number of activities that you can engage in like art, exhibitions, feeding, and encounters, there is tortoise encounter, open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm for $15, giraffe feeding, open from 11 am to 4 pm for $5 per feed, camel feeding opens for 30 minutes at 12 pm, 2 pm and 3:30 pm, rhino feeding, opens for 30 minutes at 2:30 pm for $5 per feed, and parrot feeding, open from 11 am to 4 pm for $3 per feed. There are other activities like presentations from 11 am to 3 pm, there are rides like the monorail, Lostman’s river ride, safari tram tours, wildlife carousel, and pedal boats.
