The Papafragas Caves are deep dark sea caves on the Papafragas Beach, which is located on the northern coast of Milos, a 15-minute drive from Adamas. The idyllic beach has mesmerising white volcanic rock cliffs on one side and clear turquoise waters on the other. Enjoy a swim in the shallow crystal clear waters of an enclosed pool through the cave inlets. Caves are carved within the cliffs, giving way to a small stretch of sandy beach area. Paralia Firopotamos is a short beach in the small fishing village of Firopotamos on the northern coast of Milos Island. The Paralia, which is Greek for the beach, is built inside a small bay with crystal clear shallow waters. Several terraces across the surrounding hill serve as high diving spots. Canteen services, parking area, and rentable sunbeds are available for a price. The chapel of Saint Nicholas, patron of men at sea, is uphill from the beach. Paralia Paleochori is arguably the best beach on Milos Island, located on the south coast of the island, 10 km from Adamas port. The crowded beach is divided into three zones with dark sand and warm waters due to underwater mineral springs. The pebbled sea beach filled with tiny fishes and underwater volcanic rocks makes it a great snorkelling point. The beach is well-managed, with washrooms, sun loungers, and umbrellas. It is a colourful paradise with red and yellow cliffs and contrasting blue waters. The beach emerged as a result of ancient volcanic eruptions. Take the stairs down the cliff to reach the beach below. It is accessible by road and hired boats. There are several cafes, beach bars, and taverns around the shore. Plaka is the capital town of Milos, famous for its narrow streets with picturesque Greecian whitewashed houses. There are several pitch-black caves and abandoned mining tunnels to be explored across the beach. The sandy section of the beach is relatively small but provides a great view of the sunset. Hike a stretch of the unpaved path extending a few kilometres to reach the beach. Several off-road vehicles and boat tours are organised for easy access to the beach. Time travel to ancient Greece with a magnificent view of mining complexes surrounding the main beach area. The sulphur mines on the beach were built back in 1862. The mining complex holds abandoned stone buildings with heavy mining equipment, old wagon rails, and some housing facilities. The Venetian Castle of Milos or Plaka Kastro is the main attraction in Plaka, built on the Prophet Elias hill in the 13th century under Venetian rule. It is a one-hour hike from Plaka, the capital region of Milos. Hiking to the top of the beautiful white castle is a must. The castle does not have many remains of it, but the climb is worth the vistas. Visitors can see a scenic view of Milos island and spot Sarakiniko beach, Plathiena beach, and Firopotomus beach from the top. Two 19th-century whitewashed churches, Panagia Thalassitra and Panagia Korfiatissa, are on the way to the hilltop.
