Agia Eleni in Chora is a church of the Post-Byzantine era and is a preserved monument even today. It is the biggest church in the Mykonos Castle area with beautiful views of the Aegean sea. The church is a basilica that has a 9-meter-high bell tower and a chapel. This calm beach is an offbeat destination that is not frequently visited, leading to less crowd. It is a nudist-friendly beach. You can indulge in various water sports or have a relaxing time on sunbeds or in a beach tavern. The Agari Beach consists of a small bay which is partly covered with sunbeds and umbrellas while the rest is left empty. The popular Elia beach is within a walking distance. The cost of renting two beach beds is EUR 30. There are few food options available on the beach. The altitude of the lighthouse is 19 meters and the focal height is 184 meters, overlooking the gleaming blue waters between the islands of Mykonos and Tinos. It is popular for its long and interesting history and the spectacular sunset views from the stone-fenced courtyard. The Armenistis Lighthouse was built in 1891 and is still fully functional. Bonis mill is a 16th-century stone-crafted mill in Mykonos, overlooking the bay. It is the only mill that is open to the public as a museum. The visitor gets insights into the pre-industrial methods of bread and winemaking in the museum. Located on the outskirts of Chora, the windmill offers a spectacular view at sunset. Bonis Mill was acquired by the folklore museum in 1962 and was turned into an outdoor museum known as the Agricultural Museum of Mykonos. The threshing floor, oven and mill enable the process of converting wheat to flour and into the final product of bread, one of the most important foods of Mykonos. The mill also has a miller’s home, pigeon house, tools used for agricultural purposes, a treadle and pre-industrial era machines. Folklore Museum Mykonos

Folklore Museum Mykonos

The Mykonos Folklore Museum displays antiques like sculptures, pottery, model ships and other items from the 19th century. It is located in the Kastro neighbourhood close to Paraportiani. The museum has six exhibition halls which display hand-woven fabrics, antique furniture, traditional musical instruments, historical plates and prints, locks and keys, and a fine collection of paintings. It also has a typical 19th-century kitchen and bedrooms perfectly arranged with vintage furniture and oil lamps. The Folklore Museum was founded in 1958 and is housed in a two-story building that belonged to a captain of the 18th century.
