The Oloolua Nature Trail is a 5km natural trail in the tropical Oloolua Forest of the Karen neighbourhood. The trail is popular for jogging, walking, picnicking amidst stunning forest views, and hiking. Many indigenous trees and plants can be found here. A 20-foot waterfall at the forest entrance is the highlight, along with a campsite equipped with bonfire facilities. A rickety bridge over the Mbagathi river in the middle of the forest leads to a 33m long cave with underground caverns and a papyrus swamp rich in local biodiversity. There is a designated picnic site with litter bins, controlled grills, ovens, benches, clean washrooms and sounds of birds in the wild. Uhuru Gardens is Kenya's largest urban commemorative and memorial park, located along Langata Road, Nairobi. It was established to celebrate the country’s independence from the British Empire in 1963 and was declared a National Monument in 1966. It houses three historically significant monuments that draw the attention of tourists The lush green gardens are within a 15-minutes driving distance of the city centre. A Mũgumo tree stands erect at the place where the first Kenyan flag was hoisted post-independence. It is also significant to the ethnic native community of central Kenya, the Kikuyu people. A commemorative monument standing tall at 24m with clasped hands and a dove sculpture signify Kenya’s freedom. Beside the memorial is a statue with soldiers raising the Kenyan flag. The US Embassy Memorial Garden, also known as August 7th Memorial Park, is the site of the former US Embassy bombed in 1998. It is located between Moi and Haile Selassie Avenues in downtown Nairobi. It is a minimalistic well-kept garden with a remembrance gallery featuring antiquities, testimonials and data from the day of the bombing. The August 7th Memorial Park is frequently visited by people who wish to pay their regards to those who lost their lives during the attack. One can also watch a short film here that depicts the events of 7 August 1998. In addition, a Memorial Wall contains the names of those who died that day.
