Ahivantgad

Ahivantgad is a fort in the Nasik district of Maharashtra. Ahivantgad and Achala are twin forts. The top of the fort resembles more a wide plateau than the peak of a hill. Though the fortifications have more or less disappeared, one can still find the remains of some of the palaces atop the fort. Within the fort lie the crumbling remains of two massive entrance gates. There is an idol of Hanuman at the top and a few lakes scattered around the plateau. There is a temple of Jagdamba in the fort, along with an idol of Hanuman at the op of one of the tanks. There are many caves atop the fort and one of them is considerably spacious.
