Nong Khai Aquarium
Located on the Khon Kaen University campus, Nong Khai aquarium is famous for its ocean-dwelling species. The Nong Khai aquarium displays giant catfish and many different ocean-dwelling species and freshwater species. They also have a picnic garden and food and drink stalls. On Sundays, they put up scuba-diving shows for visitors. It has become a little shabby over the years, but still, this aquarium is a lovely place to relax at with your family.

Sala Kaew Khu
The Sala Kaew Khu is a sculpture park. Built by a mystic named Luang Pu Boun Leua Sourirat in 1978 and over a period of 20 years, the Sala Kaew Khu is an interesting and impressive creation. Quite simply put the park is full of statues related to Buddhism and Hinduism. Yet, it is fantastic, serene, and the sheer magnitude and genius of the park can amaze one easily.
Luang Pu began building the structures on the Lao side of the River Mekong. But after the communist took over Laos, he travelled across to Nong Khai. Some statues rise as high as 25m, whereas some depict the tales of values. Luang Pu’s mummified body remains within the park today. The park is a must-visit destination for history and architecture buffs.

Tha Sadet Market
Tha Sadet Market is a long and cramped market that sells local and imported products. Tha Sadet Market is a long market that has a large number of roofed stalls selling local hand-made products as well as imported products from Laos, Vietnam and China. Many stalls sell local Thai food like barbecued fish and papaya salad. On Saturday nights, there are beautiful street performances on the promenade. Tha Sadej Market is a good spot for an evening stroll or a bike ride.

Wat Pho Chai
Largest and most important temple of Nong Khai, Wat Po Chai is known for its famous Buddha image. The bronze Buddha image of Luang Phor Phra Sai was one of the three made because of Lan Xiang king's daughter centuries ago. Besides this image, there are several large and colourful wall murals at Wat Po Chai which depict Siam's invasion of Laos and the three captured Buddha images. The temple is also home to many monks and other locals who live here praying to Phra Sai for health and wealth.
The statue of Buddha or Luang Phor Phra Sai is one of the most revered in the country. The head of the statue is made of gold, whereas, the body is constructed in bronze. The ut-sa-nit or the ornament on Buddha’s head is jewelled in rubies. The stunning statue is matched by the equally elaborate interior wall murals and paintings that depict the story of the journey of the statues. The three same statues were transported from Laos to the Mekong River. Laid on rafts, one drowned to the bottom of the sea during a storm while the other was transported to Wat Pathum Wanaram.The temple is always bustling with devotees who light incense and pray at one of the holiest shrines in Thailand.
