De Leon Springs State Park
With a rich subtropical forest alongside a clear water spring, this park is placed on an area originally inhabited by Mayaca Indians who named the springs Acuera, meaning ‘Healing Waters’. The spring is a great area for swimming, boating and scuba diving all year round. A very interesting feature of the park has to be the Sugar Mill Restaurant, based on an actual sugar mill from the 1830s. Here you can cook and customize your very own pancakes as well as have other delicacies.
Other activities include paddling, boat-tours and boating along the water as well as a paved nature trail that stretches half a mile and is wheelchair accessible and other longer trails as well. Devil’s Den
There are several springs all over Florida, however, you surely can’t miss the Devil’s Den, which is a 54 feet deep, privately owned underground spring cave from where human remains have been found which dates back to the 7500 BC. The fee to enter the Den is $15 per person for weekdays and $20 on weekends. The spring maintains a temperature of 72 degrees throughout the year. It remains open from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening and if you are planning to spend the night near the cave, then there are tents, camps, cabins, and trailers.
