Sriwijaya Kingdom Archaeological Park
Located near the banks of the Musi River, very close to the South Sumatran capital Palembang, Sriwijaya Kingdom Archaeological Park is a site in South Sumatra, Indonesia, where remains of an ancient habitation area have been excavated. The name is derived from a 9th-century settlement of the Sriwijaya Empire that reigned over the same.
Among the many artefacts unearthed are Buddhist statues, beads and pottery items, China clay pots and ceramics and more. There are vivid signs of organized settlement, such as human-made canals, ponds, moats, roadways and artificial islands; for recreation.
