Patna Museum

Situated in the city of Patna in Bihar, the Patna Museum, locally known as the Jadu Ghar is a very popular museum that houses more than 50,000 rare art objects. These include Indian artefacts from the ancient, middle ages and the British colonial era. It was built in 1917 and was started on 3 April of the same year during the British rule to house the historical artefacts founded in Patna. The rich collection of the museum will take you back to the past to reminisce Indian history and glory. Constructed in the style of Mughal and Rajput architecture, the museum has different galleries that contain masterpieces from the past. The Holy Relic Casket, with the sacred ashes of Lord Buddha and the beautiful statue, Yakshani, are the most highlighted attractions of the place. Archaeological objects such as coins, art objects, paintings, instruments, textiles, thankas, bronze sculptures and terracotta images by various Hindu and Buddhist artists are on display in the museum. S K Puri Children's Park is situated in Boring Road in Patna and is essentially a children's' park with umpteen swings and slides for the kids. Besides it also has a jogging track which is used foro early morning and evening walks.

Sanjay Gandhi Botanical Garden, or locally known as Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan was established in 1969 and has been a source of bounteous nature and greenery to the city ever since. Also known as Patna Zoo, the park has many varieties of flora and fauna, in addition to boasting facility, elephant ride, toy train for kids etc.

Shaheed Pir Ali Park is situated in the Gandhi Maidan in Patna and is dedicated to the freedom fighter Pir Ali who was caught and hanged. Best suited for age groups, the park remains especially crowded during early mornings and evenings with the joggers.

Shaheed Smarak or Martyr's Memorial in Patna is a bronze statue commemorating seven brave young men, who sacrificed their lives in a protest, trying to unfurl the Indian national flag during the Quit India Movement of 1942 outside a British administrative building which is now the Secretariat of Patna. The monument is a remarkable reminder of the cost of feedom, even if their names are not widely known.

The Sonepur Cattle Fair is one of the largest fairs of animals in Asia that takes place annually in the Vaishali district of Bihar. Situated on the bank of the river Gandak, the city of Sonepur holds the annual livestock fair, commonly known as 'Sonepur Mela'. This year it is going to be held on 20th November 2020. Though famous as a cattle fair, Sonepur Mela has a common proverb to its name which goes as: One can buy everything in Sonepur Mela, from a needle to an elephant. The saying, however, does not hold any longer, for the sale and purchase of elephants has been declared illegal since 2004, after the implementation of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. However, the Sonepur Mela still has much to offer to its visitors, who come from all across the country as well as abroad from handicraft stores to trade of Dogs, Buffaloes and Donkies.
