Nestled at Ban Chi Chan, Khao Chi Chan is a huge hill with an outline of Buddha etched in gold, attracting tourists in large numbers. It is also popularly known as the Buddha Mountain. Khao Chi Chan is a huge limestone hill adorned with the world's largest carved stone Buddha initiated by His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch. The idol was created to honour the 50th anniversary of His Majesty the KingÍs Accession in 1996. The image of Buddha sitting in the style of Pang Man Wichai as Phrawarachabopit was crafted in various steps beginning with a designing by computer software. The same design was then etched on the hill using laser, most work is done at night for the visibility of the laser beams. Next, the sculpture was carved on the hill finished with gold mosaic filling glittering under the effect of sun rays. The sculpture was named as "Phra Phuttha Maha Wachira Uttamobhas Sassada", meaning "the Buddha with brightness and sublimity" by His Majesty. Once served as a construction industry hub, today this 130 meters high image is a major tourist hub awe-inspiring its visitors.
