Places To Visit In Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park

Phong Nha Cave

Phong Nha Cave

Over 7 kilometres long and with over 44 kilometres of passageways, Phong Nha Cave is one of the largest cave systems in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. This cave is touted to be the most beautiful cave in Phong Nha Ke Bang National park (and also in Vietnam). The cave lends its name to the park and is popular for its long underground passageways and a fantastic riverboat ride along the Son river through the cave. The cave can be accessed from the tourist centre in Phong Nha town, where boats wait to ferry passengers to the cave. There are many small caves and grottoes in 14 chambers of Phong Nha Caves. Numerous stalactites and stalagmites glitter inside as you go deeper inside the cave. Before the cave's exit, the boats will pull up for tourists to walk around and experience parts of the cave on foot. Read More

Son Doong Cave

Son Doong Cave

Officially the largest natural cave in the world, Son Doong Cave was the last discovered cave in 2009. With its ceiling reaching up to heights of 200 metres, the beautiful imperfections of stalactites and stalagmites are sheerly congruent to fanciful imaginations. The length of the cave is 5 km but it is not completely accessible because of the fast-flowing underground river.

Thien Duong Cave

Thien Duong Cave

Popularly known as the Paradise cave because of its spectacular limestone formation, Thien Duong Cave is a 31 Km long cave with height up to 100m and width up to 150 m. It is a completely dry cave with no underground river. It is easily accessible because of the soft and flat ground. Before the discovery of Son Dong Cave, Thien Duong was the largest and longest cave in Vietnam.

Tien Son Cave

Tien Son Cave

Located around over 1 Km away from Phong Nha Cave, Tien Son Cave is a dry cave located at an altitude of 200m. It is also known as the 'Fairy Cave' because of many stalactites and stalagmites shaped in the form of fairy tales. What is unique about this cave is the resonation of sound within the cave. Loud sounds can resonate as gongs or drumbeats from within the earth itself. From the entrance around 400 metres is traversable while the rest is off-limits for safety reasons. The caves inside were used as Hindu Sanctuaries in 9th and 10th century and the remains can be seen even today. It also served as the hospital and medical centre during the Vietnam War. Read More
