Cao Dai Temple Phu Quoc
One of the most popular places in Phu Quoc, the Cao Dai Temple in the town of Duong Dong, is designed after the temple at Tay Ninh. The temple stands out with its colourful exterior and combination of religious symbols painted on the exterior. Phu Quoc is believed to be the birthplace of Caodaism, and the temples on the island are a great place to learn about the religion and its ties to local culture. Steps lead up to the Cao Dai Temple, and behind it is the Duong Dong Temple. The temple complex also has a small shrine.

Coi Nguon Museum
Located 5 kilometres south of Duong Dong, the Coi Nguon Museum exhibits the private collections of former tour guide Huynh Phuoc Hue. The four floors of the museum building cover almost every aspect of life on the island, with ceramics, oysters, pearls, corals and even cuts from indigenous flora on display. In addition, there are examples of ancient pottery, old coins and banknotes, and a collection of folk art from across the years. The museum is open at all times.

Duong Dong Market
Duong Dong Market is the largest of the six markets on the island, located right in the heart of Duong Duong town. The market is known for its wide variety of fresh seafood, including crabs, mackerel, squids and barracudas. Also available are dried seafood such as dried squids and fish, which can be sealed and taken back home, and the island’s famous fish sauce. In addition, visitors can enjoy local delicacies such as rice cakes, porridge, grilled fish and crabs in the market.

Explore Phu Quoc on Motorbike
Motorbikes are perhaps the best way to explore the island, allowing visitors access to even the hardest-to-reach places. With a motorbike, tourists can ride to Bai Sau (Sao Beach), visit the ancient fishing village of Ham Ninh and try fresh crab or walrus meat, and visit the Dinh Cau shrine and experience beautiful sunsets, among others. Motorbikes are a very convenient way of getting around the island, and bike rentals start from VND 12,000 per day. To rent a bike, visitors must bring a licence and all the necessary documents required for identification.

Floating Village Rach Vem
Home to around 180 households, the Floating Village at Rach Vem depends on fishing and tourism for its income. There are raft houses in the area, built around 400 metres from the coast and offering views of the water on all sides. Fishermen often allow tourists onto their boats, making for a unique experience. Tourists can also enjoy fresh seafood in the village.
Ham Ninh Fishing Village
Located on the east coast of Phu Quoc, Ham Ninh Fishing Village is one of the oldest villages on the island. The village is home to Bai Vong Port, Ham Ninh Beach and Ham Ninh Jetty, among others. The beach offers magnificent sunset views, and visitors can head out onto the water with local fishermen too. Since Ham Ninh is a fishing village, the cuisine here is rich in seafood, with spider crabs being a speciality. Visitors can also buy fresh seafood from the Ham Ninh market and visit pearl farms and the famous Wood Bridge used for anchoring fishing boats. The village is only 30 minutes away from the town of Duong Dong.

Suoi Tranh Waterfall
Suoi Tranh Waterfall is one of the most popular attractions on the island of Phu Quoc. A trail surrounded by smaller waterfalls and streams leads to the waterfall and passes through a forest. This forest is home to a variety of wild orchids, moss, mushrooms and lichens. Hikers will enjoy going past the main waterfall site, following a 15-kilometre-long path along a stream to reach the 200-metre-tall Hang Doi. The waterfall tends to get crowded during the day, and it is best to reach the site early in the morning.

Ho Quoc Pagoda
Ho Quoc Pagoda is the largest Buddhist temple on the island of Phu Quoc and was built in 2012. Spread over 100 hectares, the Pagoda complex features a Jade Statue at the entrance, a dragon staircase with carvings from the Han Dynasty, and a giant and fully functional bell. The complex offers panoramic views of the sea, and early morning visitors can experience magnificent sunrises. Within the complex, tourists might also be able to spot macaques and hornbills. The Pagoda is open all day and is located around 27 kilometres from Duong Dong.

Hon Thom Cable Car
Running for almost 8 kilometres, the Hon Thom cable car connects the island of Phu Quoc to Hon Thom, also known as Pineapple Island. The trip takes 15 minutes, and its highest point is 174 metres above the ground. From inside the cable car, tourists can enjoy panoramic views of the two islands and the surrounding Gulf of Thailand. The cable car also offers stunning views of cruise and fishing boats plying on the water below.
Island Hopping Near Phu Quoc
The archipelago of Fingernail Island is a short boat ride away from Phu Quoc. The archipelago is an excellent location for snorkelling, with white sandy beaches and clear turquoise water against the backdrop of a jungle. Tourists can go fishing at Pineapple island, the largest island in the archipelago, and even go snorkelling on Dam Ngang Island.
