Phang Nga Bay
Phang Nga Bay, also known as Ao Phangnga, is a group of 42 islands situated between the Malay peninsula of Thailand and Phuket. Spread over 400 square miles, it is a picturesque location known for archaeological sites of limestone caves and cliffs, mangrove forests, beds of seagrass, and numerous species of flora and fauna, including the endangered Malaysian plover.
A part of the Bay is occupied by the Ao Phang Nga National Park, declared to be a protected area in 1981. It is also a designated Ramsar Site (an important wetland of ecological importance Internationally as per the Ramsar Convention) in 2002. Credence must be given to the popularity of Phang Nga to the James Bond Movie, "The Man with the Golden Gun," shot at one of the islands within the National Park area. Phuket Aquarium
Phuket Aquarium in Cape Panwa is situated 40 kms away from the central Phuket City, near the Thai Navy's Third Area Naval Command Base. Established in 1983, Phuket Aquarium is a part of the Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC), spread over 20 acres of prime waterfront property on Phuket's southeast coast.
Devoted to marine education, protection and research in this field, PMBC has an incubator, endangered museum species and a research vessel on grounds. Although a smaller space, the Aquarium, they intend at developing an educational day program for future generations The Aquarium hosts over 30 water tanks here, sheltering not just regular fishes, but sharks, eels, shrimps, crabs, seahorses and even the famous 'Nemo' clownfish. The place might also be the only place in Phuket where with a Sea Turtle Sanctuary, where caging and forcefully breeding these creatures is strictly prohibited. With a nature trail outside leading to plenty of turtles, Phuket Aquarium cares for these turtles and releases them back into the sea.

The Phuket or Rawai Art Village is located in a quiet corner of the Rawai beach. With its fascinating and colourful mix of paintings, murals and puppets, it is the perfect place to soak in both traditional Thai as well as modern and bohemian art forms. Phuket Bird Paradise is a tourist favourite, with its beautiful gardens and a colourful abundance of feathered beauties everywhere. As you enter the Phuket Bird Paradise, you will find three parrots to the right to take beautiful pictures. Apart from variant birds and fantastic bird shows, the place has enormous statues of many birds, which would be great photographic spots. Though you can buy your pictures from the photographers, it is best to carry your own camera to take as many pics as you like.

The Phuket Mining Museum, an impressive Sino-Portuguese style pink building, gives one an insight into Phuket's rich mining history. Also known as Kathu Mining Museum, this carefully designed structure houses many impressive mining artefacts, one of the star attractions being the scaled model of a mine depicting hundreds of wax figures at work.
Along with rubber and fishing, tin mining is what made Phuket rich and attracted many immigrants from China and other countries. The park outside the Phuket mining museum has many abandoned mining equipment and machine spare parts. Inside, you will find many exhibitions and pictures which recreate tin mines, opium den, living and working conditions of the labourers and a sneak peek into the daily lives of their families. There is also a room full of rocks, technical information and photographs about tin-processing.
