Xcaret retains the beauty of Riviera Maya with a dolphin aquarium, turtle sanctuary, aviary, and offers snorkeling and diving activities. Similar to this is Xel-ha, a natural aquarium with lots of tropical fishes where you can opt for snorkeling, diving, rope climbing, rafting, ziplining and cliff jumping. Visit a Cenote
Diving in a safe cenote is an experience worth giving a try. A number of cenotes can be spotted around Playa, which should be tried only with a trained guide along.
Literally meaning 'sacred wells', cenotes are swimming holes naturally formed by eroded limestone portion that seems to be carved out of the cave walls. Most of the cenotes have fresh water pools, with beautiful small fishes and absolutely-clear water. Some cenotes are open-air, which are said to have algae rich in minerals and vitamins possessing healing properties. Cenotes give you an out-of-the-world escapade, that should definitely hold a place in your list of things to do in Playa Del Carmen.
