The Oceanarium displays Algoa Bay's rich and diverse marine life in South Asia, and the snake park has an extensive collection of reptiles. The No. 7 Castle Hill building itself is a national monument and major landmark in Port Elizabeth. The museum has exhibitions on dinosaurs, birds, costumes, maritime history, local history, beadwork and the first people of the bay. It is known for having a 15-metre skeleton of a Southern right whale, a life-sized reconstruction of the Algoasaurus and a 5-metre bronze cannon from the 1640s.
