The first and only park in all of Ranikhet to be built exclusively for kids, the Cantonment Aashiyana Park, also known as the Devdar Udhyan, offers various attractions for children such as well manicured lawns, colourful fountains, herbal gardens as well as viewpoints to witness the mighty Himalayan ranges. The park is fully designed on high hills, and is based on a jungle theme.

Bhalu Dam

An artificial lake surrounded by idyllic forests, the Bhalu dam is the perfect spot for a picnic complete with birds, breeze and snow-capped valleys. However, the water is typically low or negligible except during monsoon season. Also, one needs to trek for 3 km to reach this reservoir.

Dunagiri Temple is a famous shrine dedicated to Maa Dunagiri or Maa Durga and is located in Almora district of Dwarahat, Uttarakhand.  Perched at a height of 8000 feet above sea level, this temple is also known as Shakti Temple and Dunagiri Temple is not only an important religious site for locals but also offers a good view of the Himalayan ranges to national and international tourists alike.  People often visit this temple during the Chaitra and Ashwin months of Navratri. It is believed that when Lord Hanuman was carrying the mountain with “Sanjeevani Buti” for Lord Laxman, a piece of it fell on this location and since then, it has been called “Doonagiri” where “Giri” refers to fell. Known as the Mangalikhan amongst locals, visitors need to climb a total of 365 steps to reach the temple premises. Dunagiri temple is one of the two Vaishnavi Shakti Peeths, the other one being Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir. Other than the main temple, the complex also has five guest houses in all, along with an Italian temple, Sri Babaji's Kutir and the Sri Baba Research Hospital. The temple is a must visit during Navratris and in the evenings on all days.

Haidakhan Temple, Ranikhet

The Haidakhan Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman, and was built by Haidakhan Babaji himself, who is considered to be a “mahavatar”, or the mortal manifestation of Lord Shiva. The Haidakhan Temple sits proudly atop a hill at Chiliyanaula near Ranikhet, hosting a panoramic view of the mountains of the Shivalik Hills. Most people visit the temple to get married, according to Indian traditions. One must visit the temple during Navratri, which is celebrated with gusto here. The Temple is 4.5 kms from Ranikhet Bus stand, a small trek is in order to reach the temple, which is why the monsoon months (June-August) must be avoided.
